The Braves Are Falling Further Behind, and It’s Not Just Bad Luck
Braves Have No Excuses Left
Where are the days when teams had some heated and well-needed meetings in the clubhouse? Maybe they do, and we just do not hear about it, but I would be hard pressed to believe that. The Atlanta Braves need one of those badly.
We have heard the positive spins and the better baseball is still to come narratives. I have tried to stay positive right there with them, but something has to give.
The Braves are dangerously falling further behind the division leaders. And to appease the look at 2021 crowd, yes, I know they were bad then and made a run to win it all. But this is not 2021. It is 2025. You cannot hang your hat on that happening again. Why even hang your hope on that happening again??
Braves baseball has not been a good hitting team this season, and it still shows. Enough with the excuses. They faced an elite pitcher. They are hitting the ball hard, it is just bad luck. Did the whole team break a mirror or something? I refuse to buy into the excuses any longer. It is time for Atlanta to wake up and make some changes.
They have a roster that is proven to be good, and yet this year, and even into the end of last season, they have looked like the opposite. What will it take? I do not know. I am just a guy that does not know ball, apparently, and naive. But I do know this. The Atlanta Braves cannot afford to keep falling away.
Sure, they have won a few series, but they are right back on the track of undoing what they scratched so hard to turn around. It is like a never ending cycle. One run ballgames, failing to hit in any moment, and not just with runners on base.
The Braves have been a team built on power, but at some point, you have to stop relying on the long ball to save the day. This team needs to figure out how to manufacture runs, move runners over, and play situational baseball. It is not always about the highlight reel moments. Sometimes it is about the little things, the sacrifice fly, the grounder to the right side, or the smart base running play. Those things add up, and right now, the Braves are not doing any of it well.
The Braves just do not hit. They will have a good game, then disappear for days. The word consistency has come out of my mouth more than it ever has in my life, because they have none.

I honestly feel terrible for the starting pitching staff. They have had to work endlessly just to give Atlanta a chance, and often come up with no win. That is not the way it should be. Sports are supposed to be complementary. Every part of the team doing its job to formulate a win. Atlanta has been anything but complementary.
So for those that say the Braves need better pitching, they have not been the issue.
I can only hope that they prove us all wrong and turn this ship around. But right now, there is nothing to hang your confidence on with this Braves team. Hats off to the pitching staff for keeping this team in games. The other side of the ball needs to seriously search for answers. There are only so many aw shucks explanations fans are willing to hear.
